Highlights of the 2011 Stock Estimate of Filipinos Overseas

The Stock Estimate of Filipinos Overseas is the aggregate of all Philippine-born Filipinos, residing or working overseas. It provides a snapshot of the number of Filipinos overseas at any given time taking into consideration migrant flows. It categorizes overseas Filipinos into permanent, temporary and irregular migrants.

In time for the celebration of the Month of Overseas Filipinos (MOF), the Commission on Filipinos Overseas honored 12 media works from 6 countries during the awarding ceremony of the 2nd Migration Advocacy and Media (MAM) Awards held at the SSS Ramon Magsaysay Hall on December 18, 2012, which also coincided with the International Migrants Day.

CFO supports the implementation of ILO Conventions on Domestic and Maritime Workers
The Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO) expresses its support in the implementation of the International Labour Organization Convention Concerning Decent Work for Domestic Workers (ILO Convention 189) and the Maritime Labour Convention as both enter into force in 2013.

Southeast Asian officials, EU/Asia experts and stakeholders hold regional dialogue on migration and development

Representatives from the government of 10 Southeast Asian countries, experts from the European Union (EU) and Asia, delegates from Philippine-based civil society and multilateral organizations gathered for the two-day Manila Conference on Migration and Development within the framework of the Project "Advancing Regional Cooperation on International Migration among Southeast Asian Countries” at the Dusit Thani Hotel and Resorts Manila, Philippines on December 12-13, 2012. The Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO) of the Office of the President of the Philippines organized the conference in cooperation with the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) and with the full support of the European Union (EU) under its Migration EU Expertise Initiative (MIEUX).

Manila Conference on Migration and Development: Taking Stock of the Situation in Southeast Asian Countries
The Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO) is proud to host the "Manila Conference on Migration and Development" within the framework of the Project "Advancing Regional Cooperation on International Migration among Southeast Asian (SEA) Countries from December 12 to 13, 2012 at the Dusit Thani Hotel in Makati City. The regional conference with the theme "Migration and Development: Taking Stock of the Situation in Southeast Asian Countries," was realized in cooperation with the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) and with the full support from the European Union (EU) under the “Migration EU Expertise” Initiative.
