April 23, 2015 (Quezon City, Philippines) –ABS-CBN The Filipino Channel (TFC) earned its first Anvil Award for Public Relations at the recently concluded 50th Anvil Awards held in Marriott Hotel, Manila for its advocacy campaign that encouraged overseas Filipinos (OFs) to exercise their right to vote in the 2013 elections.

A  month ago yesterday, all hell broke loose at Mamasapano in Maguindanao  and, with it, the hopes we were nurturing for the timely  passage of the Bangsamoro Basic Law that would conclusively shift the MILF struggle from armed to electoral, from violent to peaceful.  Or so it seems.

Heavy borrowings and a lack of saving habit have been blamed for the financial problems the Filipinos are facing in the country and abroad.

Imelda M. Nicolas, Chairperson of the Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO), said she was shocked to know the high level of financial debt the Filipinos carry in the country and abroad.
