Since Typhoon Haiyan/Yolanda devastated the Philippines, the U.S. has been directing much-needed food and relief aid to the country, but more needs to be done to move the Philippines from "Relief 2 Recovery"!
We urge Philippine President Benigno Aquino, President Barack Obama, and Secretary Rand Beers to designate the Philippines for temporary protected status (TPS) under Section 244B of the Immigration and Nationality Act.

WASHINGTON — Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio, Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Migration Policy Institute (MPI), announced today that Loida Nicolas Lewis, Chair and CEO of the investment firm TLC Beatrice, LLC, veteran non-profit leader and journalist Louis Freedberg and former U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service Commissioner James W. Ziglar have joined the Board of Trustees of MPI, an independent, non-partisan think tank dedicated to analysis of the movement of people worldwide.

The youth exchange »The hip hop construction« will group 24 young people from 6 EU countries aged between 18-25. The main themes of the project are expanding European awareness by using culture and art. The exchange will target different ways of raising European awareness by employing non-formal methods of promoting these topics including the use of Music such as DJ-ing and post-production; Dance such as breakdancing; and Art such as graffiti, photography and media communication. These activities will be supported by local experts from each field. Additional workshops throughout the exchange will also focus on strengthening social and communication skills between participants, effective conflict resolution and overcoming stereotypes. Participants will also be taken on a trip to the capital, Ljubljana to see graffiti in the city. The project will end with the main event the Hip hop night which will be held in Youth center in Krško.

TFC participates at the 9th International Nursing Conference’s 1st Global Summit of Filipino Nurses
February 24, 2014 (QUEZON CITY, PHILIPPINES) – Over 300 Filipino nurses from all over the world, gathered for the first ever Global Summit of Filipino Nurses 2014recently at the Manila Hotel in the Philippines. With the theme “Filipino Nurses Worldwide: Unite for Global Health and Nation-Building,” The Philippine Nurses Association of America, Inc. (PNAA), Philippine Nurses’ Association Inc. (PNA), Association of Deans of Philippine Colleges of Nursing (ADPCN) and the Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO) brought together Filipino nurses from North America, Europe, Asia and Africa to study the history and impact of their migration, document the experiences and milestones of nurses as they cope in their chosen destinations, monitor government initiatives on this integration, identify means by which the nursing workforce can contribute to Philippine society, and build a network of Filipino nurses.
